ORANGE COVE, Calif. — Families looking for local outdoor activities can use several city parks without paying an admission fee. The city’s parks directory identifies Sheridan Park, U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein Park and James O. Eaton Memorial Park as neighborhood spaces with recreational amenities.
Where can skaters and BMX riders go?
The city says Feinstein Park on Anchor Avenue has a P. Rod Skate Park and a BMX Park. Its published winter-season schedule for the skate park, September 1–June 14, lists 3:30 p.m.–8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon–8 p.m. on weekends. Hours for BMX use may be different; residents should check posted signs before traveling. The park directory lists free entry.
Downtown recreational space
James O. Eaton Memorial Park, 690 Sixth Street, is described as a 2.3-acre park with picnic areas, a basketball court, children’s play areas, the Antonio E. Lopez Bandstand and local memorials. The city also lists Sheridan Park near Second Street and D Street as having picnic tables and a baseball/softball field.
What about a future trail?
The city’s park webpage references a proposed approximately 1.25-mile Rails-to-Trails pedestrian and bicycle path along an abandoned railroad right of way. That description is a plan, not confirmation that the trail has been completed or opened. Visitors should consult official city updates for project progress and any event-specific closures.
